19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to create a third set.
He saved four early chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
